JUNIOR LEFTY STATE CHAMPIONSHIP INFORMATION AND APPLICATION

THE CLOSING DATE FOR JUNIOR STATE
CHAMPIONSHIP ENTRIES IS JULY 14TH.
The Northern California Left Handed
Golfer's Association (www.leftygolf.org),
which has been providing challenging and enjoyable competition for those
who play the game left handed since 1946 invites all left handed junior
golfers ages 8 to 18 to the Second Annual California Junior Left Handed
State Open Golf Championship.
The Championship will be held at Shadow Lakes and Deer Ridge Golf Courses
in the City of Brentwood, CA. The two courses are located 5 minutes apart.
Both courses are walk able, well maintained and will provide a terrific
test of golf for all junior participants. Shadow Lakes has a driving range
on its property. Deer Ridge's driving range is limited to short irons
only. Both courses have practice putting greens.
Each course is open for breakfast at at 7:00am. Lunch is served from 11:00am
to 5:00pm. There are a number of restaurants
with in a short driving distance from the courses.
Please come and join us for the fun and the opportunity to be recognized
as a State Champion in your division.
Winning or placing in the 15-18 Division would be a valuable addition
to a resume that you may in the future wish to submit in consideration
for a college golf scholarship.

GENERAL INFORMATION
Championship Classification:
Open
Field Size: 36
Division: Boys and Girls 8-18
Age Divisions and Yardage
Shadow Lakes:
8-11 year old boys and girls ~ 9 holes
each day from Jade Tees at approximately 2,573 yards.
12-14 year old boys and girls ~ 18 holes each day from Jade Tees at approximately
5,402 yards.
15-18 year old boys and girls ~ 18 holes each day from Silver Tees at
approximately 5,962 yards.
Deer Ridge:
8-11 year old girls ~ 9 holes from Green
Tees at approximately 2,129 yards.
8-11 year old boys ~ 9 holes from Gold Tees at approximately
2,441 yards.
12-14 year old boys and girls ~ 18 holes from White Tees at approximately
5,344 yards.
15-18 year old boys and girls ~ 18 holes from Blue Tees at approximately
5,866 yards.
The Tournament Committee reserves the right to revise
yardage and tee assignments.
Age
Limits and Eligibility
The Championship is open to boys and girls who are between the ages
of 8 and 18 through the final round of play on July 27, 2008. To be
eligible, players must not be enrolled and attending college classes
for the school year of 2008-2009.

Tournament Format
and Practice Rounds
Competition for age division 8-11 is a 18-hole stroke play tournament,
gross scoring. Play will be rounds of 9 holes on Saturday, July
26 at Shadow Lakes and Sunday, July 27 at Deer Ridge. All
participants will walk.
Competition for age divisions 12-18 is a 36-hole stroke play
tournament, gross scoring. Play will be rounds of 18 holes on Saturday,
July 26 at Shadow Lakes and Sunday, July 27 at Deer Ridge.
All participants will
walk.
Practice rounds are available Monday July 21 through Friday, July
25 after 1:00pm. The junior green fee with a paid playing adult
at both courses is $10.00. For practice rounds call the Golf Shops:

Application
Process and Acceptance
Complete the Application Form and submit
as indicated with the entry fee of $60.00 payable to NCLHGA. Applications
must be received by Monday, July 14, 2008. Applications received
after the closing date will be accepted on a space available basis.
A list of players who are accepted will be posted on the NCLHGA
Website at www.leftygolf.org. Accepted applicants will receive an
e-mail or telephone call confirming their spot in the Championship.
Submission of an application does not guarantee a spot in the Championship.

Entry
Fee
The entry fee of $60.00 includes 2 tournament rounds, driving range/practice
area, and banquet.

Refunds
Full refunds will be made for cancellations
received on or before July 14, 2008. Cancellations received after
July 11 will be subject to regulations of the courses. All refund
requests must be in writing. Verbal requests will not be honored.

Rules, Regulations
and Dress Code
USGA rules govern all play except when
local rules prevail. Each player at registration will receive a
copy of the Rules of Competition and Procedures of play. Dress
Code: Collared shirts, no jeans or cutoffs, golf shorts acceptable
and soft spikes are required. Violations of
any rules, regulations or conduct will result in stroke penalties
or disqualification.

Carts
and Caddies
Players will not be allowed to use motorized golf carts or
caddies during the tournament rounds. Exception,
players with a certificate from a doctor or a handicap. Player must
have a valid drivers
license or arrangements must be made by the player to have the cart
driven by a licensed person.

|
Spectator Rules
Spectator rules will be in effect for all non-participants. Spectators
who wish to follow play on the course may rent carts. The cart fee
is $12.00, with a restriction of two (2) carts per player group.
Carts will be on an available basis (carts will be first available
to players not participating in the Junior Championship). Walking
by spectators will not be allowed. Spectators must remain
in the carts until all the players in the group they are following
have reached the green. Carts must remain on cart paths at all times.
Parental and guest involvement inconsistent with the following rules
may result in player disqualification.
1. Stay in cart and on cart path until all players have reached
the green. Spectators may then gather around the green. 2.
Remain a minimum of 40 feet from all players while following play.
3. Spectators may help in locating lost balls.
4. Advice cannot be given to any player. Violation of this rule
will result in a player penalty or disqualification.
5. Allow rules officials to oversee rulings. Spectators will
be brought into the situation only when requested by a rules official.
6. When on the course, turn off cell phones and pagers or turn
on vibrating mode.

Directions
to Golf Courses
From
Highway 4, take the Hillcrest Exit going South
(which becomes Deer Valley Road) continue on Deer Valley (approx.
5 miles) to Balfour Road; turn left onto Balfour and continue to to
West Country Club Drive, turn left onto Country Club to the Shadow
Ridge Clubhouse. For Deer Ridge continue on Balfour to Foothill; turn
right on Foothill to the Deer Ridge Clubhouse.
From Highway
580, take the Vasco Road Exit going North, continue on Vasco
(which becomes Walnut Avenue)
to Balfour Road; turn left onto Balfour and continue to Foothill
Drive; turn left onto Foothill to the Deer Ridge Clubhouse. For
Shadow Lakes continue on Balfour to to West Country Club Drive,
turn right onto Country Club and proceed to the Shadow Ridge Clubhouse.

Lefty Golf Membership is free
for junior lefties through the age of
18. Membership includes the Association, Club and the NCGA. As a member
of the NCGA juniors will receiving their monthly USGA handicap index by
e-mail, membership privileges at the two NCGA courses, Poppy Hills in
Pebble Beach and Poppy Ridge in Livermore. Also the opportunity to compete
in Norcal and NCGA sponsored junior events. New Juniors are invited to
join. For membership information and an application for
the Junior Program click on Membership above.
Juniors
can earn credits toward tournament entries by signing up new Junior Lefties
Members. A $10.00 tournament credit will be issued for each new junior
member signed up. With three credits you will receive a complimentary
entry to the Junior Tournament of your choice. Be sure to include
your name as sponsor on the application to receive credit. Credits received
in 2007 can be used for 2007 and 2008 Junior Tournaments.
